This Saturday, July 11, at 5:30pm to 8:00 pm, Jazz in July is having a free concert at the Waveland Golf Course on University [generally in parking entry area] and some artists will be there.  I'll be among them with trivets and images priced inexpensively, so come and enjoy the music and shop.

For roughly the months of September and October, I'll have some of my framed pieces on display at the Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa.  As the date draws closer, I'll update with specifics.

In September, we went to Wales, starting with Cardiff then going to mid-Wales for genealogy research then over the Aberyswyth, then north around Snowdonia and onto the Isle of Anglesey.  So far I have only been able to put images from Cardiff and the area near Dolwyddelan Castle on Flickr.  But, I'll be at Alexander's Photography in Historic Valley Junction from 5pm-9pm on Friday, October 10th for Historic Valley Junction's Gallery Night.  I hope to have pictures from Wales to display, as well as other locales.

It was a busy two days this past weekend, but enjoyable none-the-less.  Thanks to those who bought the art and also to those friends who just stopped by to say Hi! and chat.  Made the time pass so much faster.

 The trivets [alone, framed and on boxes] of the Iowa State Capitol [various interiors and exterior shots] are now for sale in the State Capitol Gift Shop in the Ground Floor of the Rotunda.  The State wants to focus on and promote Iowa artists and this is one of its efforts.  Support local artists and show your pride in the State of Iowa.  I hope to upload a gallery of the Capitol images to peruse in the near future.

The "Meandering in the Mediterranean" show is up at Frame Works in Johnston [5800 Merle Hay Road, ph. 515-270-9142] through the month of February, so stop out when you can.  Additional information at  Frame Works and at its Facebook page.

Aix-en-Provence, France

   I'll be at HeartFest at Valley West Mall in West Des Moines this weekend, February 9th-10th  HeARTfest [go there for more information].  Many of the images are smaller sizes of the larger ones I now display at other shows.  Most are matted or framed to 11" x 14" and will be less expensive.

June 23-24 at the Varied Industries Bldg. at the Iowa State Fairground, from 10am-6pm Saturday and 10am-5pm Sunday.  Air-conditioning, food, entertainment and over 200 artists and their works.  

I haven't received my booth assignment yet, but generally have been on the west side of the building.  

I spent part of this week finding some new pictures, two of which are here and the others at my Gallery site.

I will be attending the Reception tomorrow evening:  I'm one of 6 artists whose works [photographic art] will be on display at the Deer Path Art League Gallery in Lake Forest, Illinois.  The reception for the show is on Friday, June 8th from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm and the show will continue through to July 27th. 

Among the images I will have at the show will be Two Monks, Pouring Tea, Still Life in Bhutan and Through a Rome Doorway, winners of various awards, among others.

I enjoyed taking an hour or so last night at Wesley Acres doing a presentation on my fine art photography, explaining how I got into it and some of the processes involved.  About 12 of my images are on display in the entryway and as many are favorites of mine, it's fun to talk about where and why they were shot.

In April, some of my smaller [11" x 14" exterior] images and greeting cards will be available starting in April at

Preview Party is a fundraising event for Metro Arts Alliance, tonight, November 3rd -- Friday and Saturday all day a collection of artists will be displaying their work in Capital Square downtown.  I'm in Booth 117, ground floor.  It promises to be a festive occasion.  Hope you can come, tonight and over the next days.

Right now, I have some images on the wall of the Wildheart Gallery in Niwot, Colorado, right between Boulder and Longmont.

I also have images on display in the Administrative Bldg. of Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.  This show will go through September and October.

I'll be at the Metro Arts Expo this coming November, the 3rd - 4th - 5th, and you can find additional information at MetroArtsExpo.  I'm hoping to have quite a few new images by then.

Just as I had my trailer tire replaced and all was well, I was driving home and noticed problems accelerating.  Took my car to my dealer and they checked it out and the long and the short of it is that my car is really not supposed to be hauling the trailer [I've been lucky so far].  And if I persist, I'm probably looking at a new transmission etc.  So, looks like I need to skip Hinsdale and start to figure out what I am going to do over the rest of the summer.

Having a new tire put on the trailer (safety first, esp. with the long drive) and printing new photos & framing others.

I have been accepted into a number of art fairs, but had to select among them as to which to attend.  The following summer juried [i.e., selective] Art Festivals are those where I'll be in attendance, and looking forward to good weather and a great time for all:

I entered the Worldwide Photography Gala Awards ‘Best Shots’ competition a month or so ago.  There were 9280 Images received from 57 countries.  960 images [10.3%] passed the lst screening and were entered into the second screening.  186 images of 137 artists were selected as Best Shots, to be featured in the Book 2011 Best Shots.  The selected images were from artists from 39 different countries.

 I received an Honorable Mention selection [one of the 137] for two of my images [out of the 186] - Still Life in Bhutan and Through a Rome Doorway.

I was selected to submit art for inclusion in "International Contemporary Masters Volume IV", a juried annual art book. The book was just published [images below], is available at Amazon, and an art exhibit starts April 16th in Las Vegas, NV, at the Southern Nevada Museum of Fine Art.  My image, Yellow Boat on the Bosphorus will be part of the exhibition [and for sale]. 

I recently received word that my image, Colorful Wood in the Sierra Nevadas [see below], was selected to display in the 43rd National Clay, Fiber, Paper, Glass, Metal, Wood Exhibition in Ames from January 28 - April 10, 2011.  This was a competitive, juried event with 70 pieces chosen for display.

Opening reception and awards presentation will be at 5:30 pm, Friday, January 28th, at the Center, 427 Douglas Ave., Ames, IA.
